About this deal

Although 2 oz. is the standard amount of rum per serving, we prefer not to measure ours. Instead, we simply pour the rum about halfway up the ice.

If you’ve been there, you know many of the patrons come by boat and anchor just off the beach. To get to this Caribbean beach bar, they have to swim ashore arriving with wet dollar bills, thus the term “soggy dollar!”

Perhaps one of the most famous things from the British Virgin Islands, this Soggy Dollar painkiller recipe has been a popular drink for a long time. Originally made with Pusser’s rum, there are also hints of coconut taste. Honestly, how tropical could this one get?

Instructions: Incorporate all the ingredients and pour the mixture into your glass. If desired, garnish it with oranges or cherries. Straight from the Soggy Dollar bar. Though we should warn you, it could get quite addictive. Jump to: The bar (which gets its name from the bills that would get “soggy” as travelers waded thorugh the water onto the beach from their boats) has become a Mecca of sorts for Caribbean aficionados, an unmissable stop on any sailing jaunt in the Virgin Islands, a place often serenaded by Kenny Chesney in his odes to the green-hilled islands of the northeastern Caribbean. The Dark expression is a blend of Caribbean distillates from Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Barbados aged in American oak casks. You can totally make this Painkiller recipe portable and pre-make a mix that is easily transportable to the beach. To do this, simply make Painkiller mix in bulk as instructed above, portion out the amount of mix you want to bring, and add your rum in advance. And while its natural home will be in, say, the “painkiller” for which the Soggy Dollar is famous, we wanted to know if the company had produced more than just a mixing rum with Soggy Dark. Cream of coconut — This one is definitely a must. It’s not a surprise that the original Soggy Dollar painkiller recipe uses cream of coconut since it provides a creamy and smooth texture to your drink. Still, you would also be fine with coconut milk, although the texture of your drink would be considerably different. Coconut water and regular dairy milk are other alternatives, but keep in mind that coconut milk would probably be better than these two. Instructions: Shake all the ingredients except the nutmeg and the pineapple slice. Pour into your glass with ice and put nutmeg and the pineapple slice on top. Lava Flow combines the feel of Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada—perfect for any occasion during the summer season. Instructions: In your blender, mix the rums and strawberries and blend. Rinse your blender, and combine pineapple juice, banana, and coconut cream; blend well.
